My wife Barbara and I attended a Family Life Christian Marriage Conference this past week-end. We've been wanting to do this for some time, but our schedules are not very forgiving... (which by the way, was one of the reasons we felt we needed to go). We wanted to carve out some time that was just for us. Some time for us to really concentrate on each other. So we called on some friends who agreed to tag team the kids at our house while we were gone and off we went.

The conference was exceptional. It really affirmed much of what Barb and I are already doing to keep our marriage full of love and faithful commitment. It also gave us many new techniques to think about. It was a powerful reminder that marriage is a holy sacrament, authored by our Father in heaven.

There is a clever billboard which reads, "Loved the Wedding... Invite me to the Marriage".

This message is of course supposed to be a note from God. Very humorous... yes, but it makes us think about how much (or how little) recognition we place on God's involvement in the unity of two individuals which God has joined together.

If you are married, or engaged to be married, I highly recommend attending one of these conferences. It teaches you, or brings back to your remembrance what marriage really is. There is a lot of laughing, a few tears, and some great communication with your mate. Dedicated, trained, and gifted communicators present new and refreshing approaches which promote "Oneness".

Oneness is unity, and unity is love.
