Bend in the River
In 1839, the early church was in search of a new home as they ventured up the Mississippi River. They came upon this horseshoe bend in the river and found the remnants of a town called "Commerce". They settled here and renamed it "Nauvoo" - Hebrew for "Beautiful Place".
